A bowl of porridge oats may not look like much in times of chia seed puddings and acai bowls, but it definitely deserves a spot up there with the rest of the superfoods! Proven to reduce bad cholesterol and help lower high blood pressure, this bowl of goodness is guaranteed to send you off energised.

I love the combination of cinnamon and honey, but the options for spices and toppings are endless.

ingredients

  • 100g oats

  • 5 dl/2 cups water or milk of your choice – or a 50/50 split

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon ground

  • 1 pinch sea salt

  • 1 handful of walnuts – or any other nuts that you like

  • 1 banana

  • 4 strawberries

  • 2 tbsp of honey

Directions

Start by cutting the banana and strawberries into bitesize pieces.

Pour the oats and water/milk into a small saucepan and season with vanilla extract, cinnamon ground and salt.

Stir on medium heat until the porridge has reached your preferred consistency. The key to a perfectly creamy porridge is to cook it slowly and keep stirring.

Serve in a bowl with banana, strawberries, crushed walnuts and a drizzle of honey.
